"A good choice"
The place located on a good location. Not so far from city center and China Town. Staffs would show some great things to do at the surrounds. The accommodation was not bad when it was spacious and clean. That was a good choice for our short stay!
The room was extremely small, but to compensate that, I must say that the bed is one of the best beds I have slept on. Because of the room size, would not recommend for families. There is a food court that is above the market, right behind the hotel. Lots of good local food selections.
Thank you for my days stay at your hotel..
Hotel Nostalgia is a nice hotel and the staff are friendly specially perry and the cebuano guy of course the front desk ladies. Its a 20 min walk to chinatown, My next visit to singapore definitely nostalgia hotel is my first choice....
“Wonderful 10 days in Singapore”
Thankyou to all the staff at Hotel Nostalgia for making our 10 day holiday so enjoyable, with staffs help we managed both the MRT and the buses, the buses leave from the hotel front door or accross the road depending on where you are travelling, this was our preferred option and we purchased tourist 3 day passes, so we didnt have to purchase tickets every trip, I think we astounded all the staff with our busy coming and goings to all the hawker centres, singapore attractions and local haunts, staff always asked how we enoyed our activities and were a constant source of information, too many staff to thank because you are all so eager to help and so respectful, this is a heritage property so understandable the rooms are a little small.
The swimming pool was fantastic, along with the free water, laptop, fruit, newspaper, etc a very friendly hotel very eager to please, nice and quiet room. Definately stay here again just wish it to be soon.
Thankyou everyone we wont forget your hospitality.
“Little nice rooms to enjoy chinatown”
The Hotel Nostalgia has a great location within a 5 minute walk from two train stations near chinatown
Many food options around including the hawker food center almost infront of the entrance
Nice small roof top pool. And nice small rooms but accomodating and as expected for the price considering the Singapore rates
One night stay was good for us but more will have been hard with luggage of a long trip to be opened and close in a small space.
Nice staff and expedite check in and out
“Very pleasant stay, small room”
Really friendly, eager-to-please staff. Hotel is clean, cosy, about 10min walking distance to closest MRT (Underground) station Outram Park. Once even walked back to the hotel from Chinatown (approx. 2.5km) which took me about 30 minutes.
My room was quite small, but it didn't matter to me, would still book the hotel again in case I shall return to S'pore in the future.
“Good location, but very small rooms” From POLIN (Indonesia)
The location of this hotel is great, although not in orchard rd, there's a direct bus to orchard road and marina. Tiong bahru market is just around the corner, which makes it really convenient to get local delights.
The rooms are very small, as small as japanese hotel rooms! And the beds were a bit soft for my liking. But service was good. I would recommend to people who wont be spending too much time in the hotel.
We stayed at the nostalgia hotel from 23rd to 26th november where we received a very warm welcome, the staff were very helpful and kind. the service was good and the chef' did his very best to cater for our dietary needs. the staff on reception were kind enough to check in on line for us, thankyou.
The hotel is advertizised as boutique and so the size of the rooms were quite compact but we were out and about exploring singapore , so that was not important. we would love to visit singapore again and would consider a stay at the nostagia again.
“What a great stay”
We recently stayed at the Nostalgia Hotel and can say that we were very satisfied with our visit. Right from when we arrived the staff were extremely pleasant. The facilities were very clean. The rooms may have been a little on the smaller side but we don't go on holidays to spend all our time in our room. I noticed a previous comment about the bus station being too far away??? We found that the bus stop is almost at the front door of the hotel. We also liked the location as it was handy to all places that we wanted to visit. All in all a pleasant stay and if we are back in Singapore we would most certainly look to stay at the Nostalgia.
Really enjoyed my stay here, I have no complaints about this hotel and would stay here again when next in Singapore.
The staffs are very friendly and helpful. I arrived around 7am and they allowed me to check in early with no charge. The location is safe and easy to find.
Having never been to Singapore before, we didn’t really know where to stay or where the "hot spots" are, but Nostalgia was perfect.
It isn’t in the CBD but Singapore is relatively small and so easy to get around, that it didn’t matter. Ten minutes walk takes you to the nearest MRT station, and if you don’t want to walk, n it only costs a few dollars.
The Tiong Bahru food market is just around the corner for those that want a late night local meal for a few dollars. The hotel staff were really friendly, especially Perry who helped with everything that we asked and was so smiley and happy. The pool was fabulous. Its roof top and glass sided, which was perfect for the china dragon procession that went past while we were swimming.
The most important thing was that the bathroom was not seperated from the bedroom by a glass wall :) It was
a seperate room thankfully! Would highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay again.
Thank you Hotel Nostalgia
My wife and I stayed here for 10 nights. The first room we were shown, a 'superior' double, was ridiculously small for 2 people and I asked for an upgrade which we got the next day.
The hotel is 'low rise' and our new room was on the top (4th) floor overlooking the street. The downside of this was there was some street noise most of the time.
The room was fine and well looked after by the daily staff with a
local newspaper hung on the door handle every morning. The bed was possibly the most comfortable we've ever had staying in a hotel.
The staffs are incredibly friendly and helpful and seemed to actually want to help. Every request or enquiry was met with enthusiastic response. I saw, on a map, the hotel was referred to as an 'Urban Boutique'.
The hotel is away from central Singapore city but an easy 10 minute walk to either of 2 MRT stations and only 2 stops from Raffles or a S$10 taxi ride making it very convenient but nicely away from the congestion of the city.
Once you have the right room this is an extremely comfortable, convenient and friendly hotel to stay in. Any downsides are more than compensated by the staff. Highly recommend.
We stopped at Hotel Nostalgia recently for two nights. We arrived at the hotel around 8:45am and our check-in time was 2:00pm. Masrina on the front desk was extremely helpful and said that our room was ready and that we could check in straight away.
That was really great, as we were extremely tired after a very long trip and it allowed us to grab some much needed sleep. She also asked us what time our nextflight departed and as it was a late flight she extended our check-out time without us even having to ask!
The hotel and rooms were very clean. The bathroom had a nice and powerful shower in with all the usual amenities. The room was well air conditioned.
We enjoyed the location of the hotel as it was off the main drag, but very handy for walking to China town, which took about 15 minutes. To get to the main shopping (orchard road) involved a 10 minute taxi ride, which costs less than $6 (off peak) ans less than $10 on peak. If you need a taxi, just ask at reception
and they will flag one down for you within seconds.
Each time we approached the entrance to the hotel, the doors were always opened for us by the staff and they always greeted us in a way that made us feel very welcome. We also got lots of advice on the local attractions and help with booking them.
We would definitely stop at this hotel again!
We just arrived back in Australia after a recent trip to Asia, The last couple of days of the trip were spent in Singapore, and stayed at the Nostalgia Hotel.
I can recommend the great customer service the team their give, and a special thanks to Perry from Concierge for looking after our requests and giving us good advice on places and directions.
We also arrived to the Hotel very early before 10 am, and they not only welcomed us in early, but they upgraded us as well because of our recent wedding anniversary, and then gave us a very late check out the next day as our plane was leaving that evening.
And i can also recommend the fact although the rooms are a little small, they make up for it with a great shower and the most comfortable bed and pillows around.
The hotel room is very very clean and very tidy.
The bed is very comfortable. Very good security. The staff members are all very friendly and helpful. Very good location. Highly recommended to all.
I will definitely go back there again if i go to singapore again.
My wife and I stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful time exploring Singapore. The room was very small for two people as we expected so we didn't unpack totally. We didn't mind this but I can imagine not everyone would be happy, especially if staying longer.
The hotel was very clean, the room decor very good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It is well located for buses and the tram stop
at Tiong Bahru. We used the small rooftop swimming pool which was refreshing in the heat of Singapore.
We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as there are many cafes in the vicinity.
I had a lovely stay at the Nostalgia Hotel
First of all we arrived at 6.30am after a horrible flight. Went straight to hotel to drop off bags so we could adventure until the 2pm check in. We were checked in straight away without even asking.
The room was small (as expected in Singapore) but clean with funky decor. The beds were sooo comfy and the shower was delightful!
Had a meal/drinks in the hotel and thought they were reasonably priced.
Staff were always smiling and polite - only problem was check-out when we had been given a cheaper rate under the hotels best price guarantee, and the gentleman on reception wanted to charge us the full rate and didnt understand us. It was cleared up though within about 10 minutes.
Although it isnt central, I will be staying here again for sure! It is easy to catch Taxis etc.
All in all a nice hotel, but the rooms are tiny and could use a bit of a redo.
It is a bit away from the metro station but busses run just outside the hotel.
The neighborhood is nice and has many interesting restaurants.
Based mainly upon the location, I chose to stay at the Nostalgia Hotel for 1 night in June 2012. Other reviews on Trip advisor noted the small room size so I decided to book a Deluxe room. For a solo traveller this was fine. The room was clean, well equipped and comfortable although a little dark for my liking.
The staff from check-in to departure were kind and helpful and offered me a late check-out due to my late flight departure and my ill health.
Around the corner are some good cafes, a bakery and food court. A convenience store is located across the road and buses run from outside the front door.
Tip: buy a transport card from the convenience store which can be used on the efficient bus and metro service
I stayed here for 3 nights on business. There are dozens of options for business travellers in this price range in Singapore. This one stands out for the friendly, helpful staff. Every staff member I met, from restaurant to the reception staff was ready to answer my enquiries and assist me.
The hotel is small, stylishly designed, and quite user-friendly. There is a bar and eating area inside, and a smallish outdoor restaurant area with a range of reasonably priced meals. The breakfast is ala carte, the American breakfast option I chose was nicely presented and filling. I also tried a chicken caesar salad for
lunch one day and this was also good. I noticed many guests choosing to eat here in the evenings.
The rooms are visually appealing but a bit cramped. The bed was a tad short for me (I am 6 foot 2 inches tall) and the mattress a bit soft. I spent some time figuring out how to adjust the lighting because there were many switches. The door to the shower recess was a bit difficult to close. My room in the back of the
property had a small window and very little natural light coming into the room. There is free wifi in the rooms and lobby/restaurant area.
The hotel is on a busy corner a few minutes taxi ride from Chinatown and the downtown area. It's a good location and easy to get a cab, at least outside of rush hour. On several occasions I walked to my destination through the leafy city roads.
All considered, a pleasant alternative to the big hotels in the area but on the outskirts of the downtown area, and I would stay here again
